CONCEPT/SKETCHES

It was mid March when we started to put down several ideas about the Suite, collecting pictures, reading books and exchanging opinions about which direction we wanted to follow. Whatever the idea was, we both agreed on creating something that could actually reflect some aspects of life here in Lapland.
One day in April, Alessandro showed a picture of himself taken some days before while he went ice fishing for the very first time in his life, describing how thrilling the whole experience was. The idea was born.

In this process it has been very interesting to discover how the same thing could have different meanings, for Alessandro as an Italian and for me as a Swede: what is part of the everyday life for one could be something absolutely unordinary and exotic for another.
We have also ironized this concept of double view in the design of the room: for once the roles between Man and Fish are inverted, the guests will experience what happens on the other side of the ice discovering a new perspective of it.

Here you can see the very first sketches of the room:

...and this is the final idea:

The only thing left to do is realize our vision in the form of snow and ice!
